Shaping Public Education Together Starts Here

At ACT Parents, membership means being part of something bigger. Whether you’re leading a P&C, supporting your child’s learning, or building a legacy of parent voice, we’re here to back you every step of the way.  ACT Parents has two membership pathways: P&C associations, and individual parents and carers.

Membership FAQs

What’s the difference between P&C membership and individual membership?  +

P&C membership is for associations and covers your whole committee. Individual membership is for parents and carers especially those without a P&C at their school or with a strong interest in advocacy and public education.

My school does have a P&C, can I still join as an individual member?   +

Yes. Individual membership is open to any parent or carer of a child in an ACT public school.

While we encourage engagement with local P&Cs where possible, we understand that this is not always practical or appropriate for everyone. Individual membership offers another way to access support, information and opportunities to contribute to system-wide advocacy.

What are the membership fees?  +

P&C Membership: The annual fee is based on student enrolment numbers and is reviewed annually. Because fees vary by school size, detailed fee information is available through the P&C member portal. This ensures current and accurate information is accessible to member P&Cs, while keeping the focus here on the support and services membership provides.

Individual Membership: Currently $10 for ACT public school parents and carers and is reviewed annually. This low-cost membership helps support our advocacy and engagement work and provides a way for parents and carers to stay connected, informed and involved in shaping public education in the ACT.

What support do members get? +

Access to resources like templates, checklists, and guides.

  • One-on-one support for more complex issues or specific advocacy.
  • P&Cs receive tailored help to run their association including access to a heavily discounted insurance scheme and support to meet governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Access to member events and meetings.
  • Connection with a supportive community of parents and carers working together to strengthen public education.

How do I join? +

If you’d like to become an individual member, scroll up and click “Join us.” We’ll guide you from there. If you are a member of a new P&C or if you are not sure whether your P&C is already a member, please contact us.
