Annual Compliance Statement Guide

Confirming you’ve met your obligations

Why this matters

Some P&Cs are not registered with the ACNC and are required to complete an annual compliance statement by the Associations Incorporated Act 1991 (ACT).

Whilst P&Cs may not be required to submit their financial reports (including a compliance statement) following an AGM, they are required to keep these records. Access Canberra can request these records at any time.

What it covers

The statement asks committees to confirm the P&C has operated in accordance with its constitution including;

  • Financial reporting to members (review or audit)
  • Financial controls
  • demonstrated decision-making processes
  • Record keeping
  • And, reporting to government

Good practice tip

Minute the completion of the compliance statement at the AGM and include it in the records for that meeting.
