How Parent Voice Influences Change

ACT Parents uses submissions as one of the ways we turn parent and carer experiences into real influence on public education policy. 

We make submissions to consultations, inquiries and reviews to ensure the realities of families and school communities are understood where decisions are made. Our submissions are practical, evidence-informed and grounded in what parents, carers and P&Cs tell us. 

This approach has helped secure changes that better support students, families and school communities across the ACT.

Shaping Change

Elevating parent voice 

Submissions sit alongside our ongoing engagement with government, briefings, meetings and forums. They provide a formal way to: 

  • raise system-wide issues affecting public schools 
  • propose solutions informed by lived experience 
  • reinforce priorities we are already advocating for 

Each year, this includes a submission to the ACT Government’s budget consultation process, along with responses to policy and system reviews as they arise. 

Stronger Together 

When parent and carer perspectives are presented clearly, constructively and consistently, they help shape policy decisions and funding priorities. 

Our submissions strengthen the case for: 

  • well-resourced public schools 
  • equitable access to learning and support 
  • inclusive, evidence-based education policy 

They are most powerful when they reflect collective voice, not individual advocacy.
